Fri-Dee: Fetishes and me

Fri-Dee: Fetishes and me

I think most everyone reading knows what fetishes are, right? Just in case, I’ll take the easy way out and quote a little bit from the web. That way we’re all on the same page here.

To start: Sexual fetishism, or erotic fetishism, is the sexual arousal brought on by any object, situation or body part not conventionally viewed as being sexual in nature.

Additionally: Psychologists and medical practitioners regard fetishism as normal variations of human sexuality.

Personally, I’ve never had a fetish. I have come across a lot of them in my time, but never had one myself, and never really known closely someone who did. Until I got to know Hylas.

Hylas is my lovely Pet, and he has fetishes – and quite a few of them at that! One of the most amazing things about the relationship we’ve had over the last few years has been getting to know him – and them – better.

Most people who visit Hylas’ house the first time get the full tour. And what the tour involves is a good few hours of him opening drawers and cupboards and unearthing items in wardrobes. It’s the tour of all the kinky stuff.

Hylas’ fetishism comes in two major flavours (and a bunch of minor ones too). The one he’s most into, and that we’ve had a blast exploring together, is his rubber fetish. I’d not really had much to do with rubber in the past. So when I first went on the tour I was introduced to rubber clothing – full rubber outfits, rubber implements, rubber sleepwear, rubber sheets and even more rubbery goodness. Lots of glorious rubber!

Now I even own some rubber myself. Rubber gauntlets and rubber underwear, and some bracelets and a ring I wear around a lot. It does smell delicious!

And then there was the other fetishistic flavour. One that I was initially unsure about, even though it sounded cuddly. And that’s his fur fetish.

As it turns out, I love this fetish just as much as rubber. Hylas has a massive collection of massive soft toys – the Toy Pile – which is just amazing to fling yourself upon and into. I feel like a small child when curled up in there, and it’s intensely relaxing and peaceful to burrow in and be surrounded by furry and huggable toys.

In addition to the soft toys, though, Hylas also has fursuits. And while furries are generally regarded as being at the bottom of the geek/kink pile (although in retrospect I’m not sure why this is), I really like it when he’s wearing one of his outfits. Seeing him, touching him, hugging him, and snuggling with him!

So. I don’t have fetishes. But I like Hylas’ fetishes. I’m more than happy to ensure he has some rubber on him when we play. The smell of rubber is very definitely wiring itself into my arousal sense. I like diving into the Toy Pile and making out with him in there, and feeling the softness of fur around me. And I really like incorporating fetishes into our play.

But I don’t need it. Hylas could be bare-arse naked on the bed and I would be happy to take advantage of him just like that. Still, encouraging him to play with items that make him hot and horny just help to make me hotter and hornier – so why not?

Besides, I’m getting to experience so many new things with him. And that’s a whole lot of fun!

Indeed! This sort of ‘hierarchicalisation’ amongst alternative sexuality communities saddens me. Saying “My fetish is reasonable, but yours is just /weird/ and /out there/” might be personally satisfying, but probably not beneficial to anyone in the medium-to-long-term; not only does it create unnecessary frictions, but accepting the notion that such a hierarchy is valid means that one’s own fetish might be get assigned a lowly position by others.
