Twists and turns at ALBA

When the women of the Auckland Lesbian Business Association (ALBA) met for their September meeting, they were swept off their feet!

The treat of the evening was a performance by two members of the Lesbian Dancing Group, who strutted their stuff around gay-owned Marcello’s Caffé with a bit of ballroom dancing entertainment for the crowd.

ALBA’s Lindsey Rea says, “For those of us who had suffered through dancing classes in our youth, it was great to see women enjoying themselves swinging each other around the floor.

“The performance rounded off a packed night for the organisation – more than 40 women squeezed into the cosy café to farewell committee members Kathleen and Kelly and welcome new committee members Sheryl and Deb.”

Lindsey presented the Convenor’s report in Kathleen’s absence and reminded people of the fun that was had during the last year’s worth of meetings and speakers, and the interesting businesses that had been showcased.

The meeting also heard updates from OUTLine and Rainbow Youth.
The October meeting will also be at Marcellos – on Wednesday 12 October. The November meeting will be back at the Long Room and will feature the ALBA political forum.
