Do you do most of the food preparation in your home? Are you affected by HIV, or does someone with HIV live with you? Then Hester Cooper from Ipsos is interested in talking to you about participating in a research project!
Next month Ipsos, on behalf of MAF, is starting a research project focusing on food and food preparation in the home. It is part of MAF’s role to look after all aspects of food and the food supply, and they are interested in how Kiwis relate to food in all sorts of ways – how they view food, how interested they are in food, whether they watch food shows, read food-related magazines … and the type of meals they prepare in the home.
In particular, they want to find out about the meals Kiwis prepare from basic ingredients, and how the range and type of these meals has altered over the years. MAF know it’s important for them to understand how our relationship with food and the food supply is changing, and how this can be included in their policies for the future.
Within the general New Zealand population, there are a number of groups with special needs that they’re interested in. One of those special groups is those affected by HIV and AIDS.
The researchers from Ipsos would like to visit and interview people who do most of the meal preparation in households where someone affected by HIV is living (either the person themselves, or a household member). A researcher would spend one-and-a-half to two hours with that person, discussing food and food preparation. Then the person would be asked to prepare a dish typical of the main meals served in the household and to talk about the issues for them in food preparation, especially those which are unique to those who are impacted by HIV. The time and date for the visit would be arranged so they are convenient to the person involved.
Each person who participates will receive a gift of $100 cash as thanks for their time.
Most people find these studies really interesting to participate in. If want to find out more, or are interested in taking part, please email Hester Cooper: hester@brilliant.co.nz
