Out Wellington elects new chair, committee

Out Wellington, the organisers of the annual Out in the Square GLBT fair, has some new faces on board.

At a meeting over the weekend, Scott Dunning was elected into the position of chairperson, replacing former chair Andy Boreham.

Elected to the committee alongside Scott are Virginia Hopkins-Burns, former Club Ivy owner Greig Wilson, Awhina centre community engagement coordinator Anton Harper, Ben Mills, Armo Daamen and Johnston Connolly.

Former committee member Virginia returns to the committee after previously stepping down from Out Wellington some years ago.

The new committee is now setting out to organise Out in the Square 2013 and any associated fundraising events that give much-needed cash to the organisation.

Outgoing committee member Aaron Halliwell says, “We’re really excited to see what the new blood will bring to the organisation. Andy and I are sad to have stepped down, but after organising six fairs, it’s time for some new people to come on board. We wish the new team lots of luck and can’t wait to go along to Out in the Square as participants in 2013.”
