Do lightsabers get you all hot and bothered ? Have you always dreamt about a gay galaxy far far away? EA games have announced that a new play option of a gay romance will be added to the latest version of their Star Wars game.
The latest version of the game, Star Wars The Old Republic will offer players the option of allowing characters to persue same sex relationships. Gamers will be able to access the planet of Makeb where they are able to flirt with characters of the same sex in the forthcoming expansion pack, Rise of the Hutt Cartel.
The Executive Director of Bioware, Jeff Hickman wrote on the games official blog, “First of all, I want to apologise that this is taking so long to get in the game. I realise that we promised same gender romance to you guys and that many of you believed that this would be with a companion character.”
“As we have said in the past, allowing same gender romance is something we are very supportive of.”
Hickman also spoke of his intentions to add more gay romance options in the future. “Unfortunately, this will take a lot more work than we realised at the time and it (like some other pieces of content we talked about earlier in the year) has been delayed as we focused on the changes required to take the game Free-to-Play.”
Last year EA Games was inundated with messages of disgust from anti gay customers when news broke of the developers intentions to make the game gay-inclusive. Thousands of letters were sent to the game developer and threats of boycott were aired however EA Games have always stood by their plans.
