John Barrowman has been praised by gay communities around the world for his kiss for equality during the commonwealth games opening ceremony.

Openly gay Scottish born actor John Barrowman kissed a male dancer during his “Gretna Green” act for the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The 47 year old Dr Who actor has hit out at critics of the now infamous kiss taking to twitter to retweet the good, bad and the ugly tweeting:

“Im Scottish and you can never take that away no matter what your politics are, Bitterness (sic) makes you ugly and old very fast”

What had been touted as a spur of the moment snub to the 42 countries represented at the 2014 games who still criminalise homosexualality, has turned out to be a scripted part of the act. Commonwealth Chief Executive David Grevemberg saying “We thought this accentuated the values of Scotland and the diversity of Scotland,”
