The outspoken opponent of GLBT rights has stood down as leader of the Conservative Party.

Colin Craig has formally stepped down as Conservative party leader.

A board meeting scheduled for tonight has now been postponed.

Craig said at a press conference this afternoon he would be supporting a leadership review of the party, however it is unclear whether or not he will put his name forward again for the leadership.

“The nature and scope of the review is a matter for the board to determine, I have full confidence in the board to manage the process and achieve the best outcomes for the party,” he said
