Freeheld depicts the struggle for GLBT equality in the United States as terminally ill police detective Laurel Hester (Moore) fights to be able to leave her pension, earned over 23 years of service, to her partner Stacie Andree (Page) as the pair face off against homophobic government officials blocking their attempts.
